- Construction time is 4-6 weeks on a Habitat home.
- The first partner family began construction on their home November 6, 1986 and moved in on May 7, 1987 after construction was completed.
- In 2011, Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County will complete its 150th home. Homes have been built in Bristol, Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Milford, Millersburg, Nappanee, New Paris and Wakarusa. These houses provide homes for over 525 family members.
- A tithe of all undesignated income goes to our sister affiliate in the Dominican Republic. For each house built in Elkhart County, another is built in the Dominican Republic. Our 2010 tithe was more than $28,000.
- Harrison Ridge, our seventy-four lot mixed-income subdivision in Goshen opened in 2000. Habitat built thirty-three homes in Harrison Ridge through 2006 and sold the remaining lots to private homebuilders.
- The average appraised value of a new three-bedroom Habitat home is $95,000. The three-bedroom house has 1,040 square feet and one bathroom. The four-bedroom design has 1,340 square feet and two bathrooms.
- Habitat homeowners pay more than $111,600 in real estate taxes in an average year on what was previously undeveloped land.
- The Habitat families reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of our Elkhart County community: Caucasians, African Americans, Hispanics, Russians, Ukrainians, Haitians and Pakistanis.
