The Excitement is Building!

Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County could not build without its volunteers. In 2010, 931 volunteers contributed 15,530 hours to build 10 new houses, manage our operations and help run the ReStore.

For up-to-date information, please have a look at our volunteer calendar. Be sure to follow up with our volunteer coordinator, Keith Gassman, at (574) 533-6109 or you can .

Volunteer Opportunities

Construction - Construction volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity. No previous experience is necessary. Each house will have a leader to instruct volunteers and all the tools and safety equipment our volunteers will need. Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals, corporate groups, faith groups, and student groups.

ReStore Volunteers - Volunteers are always welcome at the ReStore to help organize displays, restock shelves, and clean merchandise.

Deconstruction Assistance - Help salvage materials such as doors, windows, cabinets, and bathroom fixtures from homes slated for demolition. These items will then be sold in the ReStore.

Photographer - If your hobby is photography, we are always seeking individuals to take photos of the construction process.

Educational Assistance - Habitat tries to provide Partner Families with the tools and training they will need to be successful homeowners. Our organization needs knowledgeable individuals, who are willing to partner with us, to teach various classes. These classes pertain to construction training, parenting seminars, homeownership courses or home maintenance.

Office Assistance - Volunteers in the office assist with answering phones, data entry, filing, bulk mailing, etc.
