Women Build 2020
Building Two Women Build Homes in 2020
What is the Women Build?
The Habitat for Humanity Women Build program recruits, educates, and encourages women to build and advocate for decent and affordable houses in our community. The Women Build is an opportunity for all women (women-owned and women-led organizations, church groups, service clubs, coworkers, friends, and family) to partner with Habitat to support and build an affordable home for a deserving working family. Each Women Build home is built by 300+ volunteers in our community.
Women Build 2020 Updates
Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County, along with community leaders, Habitat board members, volunteers, and supporters celebrated with Keisha Qaiyim-Conard and Aeirel Shoun as they received the keys to their new homes this summer.
The Qaiyim-Conard home is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath single-family home, and the Shoun home is a 4 bedroom, 2 baths, single-family home on Stiver Avenue in Elkhart.
These homes were made possible because of the generous sponsors, donated material, volunteer labor, and the dedication and commitment of our homeowner families.
Like all Habitat homeowners, they both contributed 250 sweat-equity hours working on the construction of other homeowner’s homes and their own homes. Homeowners must save for an affordable down payment and complete homeownership and financial education classes that are designed to ensure their success as new homeowners.
