New Executive Director
Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County is pleased to introduce Ralph Jackson as its new Executive Director. Ralph comes to us with a solid background in the Habitat for Humanity world, having served for 13 years as the Executive director of two other affiliates.
In his tenure as a Habitat for Humanity Executive Director, he oversaw the construction of 114 homes, managed budgets of over $3 million and expanded the construction capacity of one affiliate from one home per year to 7.5 homes per year. The affiliate’s ReStore also increased its net profits by 46% under his supervision. In 2003, Ralph managed a $3.5 million, 27 home Jimmy Carter Work Project in the Valdosta Georgia area.
Ralph has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, both from Valdosta State University. He has used this education in various ways, spending many years serving his community. In addition to his work with Habitat for Humanity, he owned and operated a successful retail business for 23 years, worked in the Human Resources field, and started a non-profit service organization serving as its Executive Director.
"Ralph's drive and proven ability to build partnerships within communities will serve us well” Habitat Board Chair Bill Born said. “We feel fortunate to have someone with his knowledge and understanding about Habitat for Humanity coming to lead our affiliate as we continue to build homes and make a difference in the Elkhart County community."
Ralph, for his part, says he’s excited to join the Elkhart County Habitat for Humanity team.”
“There is great potential to have an impact to provide decent, affordable housing for local families,” he said. “The board, staff, and volunteers are tremendous, and I look forward to working with them and our future families. I also look forward to meeting with Habitat supporters and members of the community."
Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to put God’s love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. In serving the Elkhart County community since 1986, we have built over 195 homes, benefitting over 800 people locally and contributed to another 225 Habitat homes in the Dominican Republic through our tithe to Habitat International.
Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. At Habitat for Humanity, this is what unites us. Through shelter, we empower.
It is to this vision of a better future that we welcome Ralph Jackson as our new Executive Director. Help us welcome Ralph and make a donation towards the first house build under his direction. www.habitatec.com/donate
