The Stout Family
Sierra and her daughter Zehava had been living in an apartment that was not intended to be an apartment. It only had a shower, making bathing her toddler difficult. “It is not comfortable at all,” states Sierra. She had been excited to be out on her own but “it isn’t as good as I had hoped.” Sierra and her daughter moved back in with her mother until her Habitat house is completed.
Sierra enjoys spending time with her daughter, going for walks and visiting the zoo, Zehava has a favorite “little bear that she likes” at the zoo. They also enjoy going out to eat at Longhorn Steak House and Cheddars. Zehava likes to watch Puppy Dog Pals and play with sidewalk chalk (and eat it). Sierra enjoys fashion, creating new looks with make-up, and photography.
Sierra has worked at Utilimaster for the past three years. Her personal goal, besides continuing to work, is to develop her passion for photography. After getting settled in her new home, she would like to turn one bedroom into a photo studio. Sierra also plans to further her education by enrolling in cosmetology school when Zehava goes to pre-school.
When Sierra heard she was accepted in the Habitat Homeowner Program, she did not know how to respond. She just broke down and cried, “Wow, I’m going to be a homeowner. I didn’t think it would happen to me,” she said.
Sierra is very excited about having a house built on Stiver Avenue. She won’t be bothered with noise from the upstairs apartment again. Sierra shared “My new Habitat home means a lot. I hate throwing away money on an apartment and not a home”.
Zehava will have her own bedroom and a tub to take a bath in and that makes Sierra very happy.
