Bush Family

Jasmine is a determined single mother to her two-year-old daughter, Aria. For the past two years, she has worked as a medical assistant at OSMC, where she takes pride in caring for others.

Most of Jasmine’s life has been marked by instability. Since her teenage years, she has moved frequently, staying with different family members but never having a place to truly call home. When Aria was born, Jasmine knew she wanted something different for her daughter—a life built on stability, security, and opportunity. She set her sights on one goal: becoming a homeowner.

Jasmine first learned about Habitat for Humanity’s Homeownership Program through social media. When she was accepted in the summer of 2024, she was in disbelief. “I’m going to beat the odds,” she said. “I’ll be the first in my family to be a homeowner.” She also understood that this dream would come with responsibility, and she was ready to rise to the challenge.

Since joining the program, Jasmine has been saving for her down payment, completing her sweat equity hours, and participating in homeownership and financial literacy classes. She shared that the classes have been especially impactful—teaching her how to budget, stay on track, and avoid unnecessary debt. She also discovered that she loves learning hands-on construction skills while helping build homes for other families.

Looking ahead, Jasmine’s dreams don’t stop at homeownership. Once she and Aria are settled in their new home, she plans to further her education and pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse. For Jasmine, this journey is about more than just a house—it’s about breaking generational cycles and creating a brighter future for her daughter.
