Davis Family Build

Davis Family

La'Shombrie Davis, a single mother to her 4-year-old daughter, currently lives in a small one-bedroom apartment where they share a bed. The apartment has issues with mold, and repairs from the landlord have been slow. Rather than invest in temporary fixes, La'Shombrie is focused on saving every dollar for the down payment on her future home and essentials for their new space. She’s ready to make her lifelong dream of homeownership a reality.

La'Shombrie's journey to becoming a homeowner began with determination. Before applying to Habitat’s Homeownership Program, she worked hard to improve her credit, increasing her chances of acceptance. In the fall of 2023, her efforts paid off—she was accepted into the program and is now one step closer to a brighter future for her family.

She is ready to provide her family with a healthy environment - a home with space for her daughter to play, her own room, and a yard. Growing up, La'Shombrie moved frequently and is eager to provide her daughter a stable, loving home—a place they can call their own.

She believes homeownership will bring positive change, giving her family a strong foundation and a fresh start. Despite life’s challenges, La'Shombrie has held onto hope, strengthened by her faith. She’s looking forward to creating memories in their new home, especially during the holidays, and she’s already planning their first meal there—lamb chops, a special meal to mark this new chapter.

La'Shombrie chose a lot on Homer St., Elkhart. The home will be a 3-bedroom,  1 1/2 bath, and a total area of 1,176 square feet.
