Josefina Ramirez
A homeowner since 2014, Josefina Ramirez created a foundation of stability and renewed possibility for her family after years of perseverance and sacrifice.
Josefina Ramirez worked hard to provide for her family while facing the strain of unsustainable housing costs. Paying $180 a week for a small two-bedroom rental, she felt the weight of that expense in every area of her life. It limited her ability to support her daughters’ dreams and kept her from visiting family as often as she wished. Though she worked steadily as a team leader at Aluminum Metals Company, overseeing multiple areas with skill and dedication, stable and affordable housing remained out of reach.
At home, Josefina raised her daughters in a close-knit, loving environment despite the tight space. Her oldest, Bianca, had begun pursuing a path in the medical field, while Carmen dreamed of studying interior design in Paris, and Katherine stayed busy with sports and cheer. As a family, they cherished time together, whether attending celebrations or enjoying movie nights. Even amid crowded living conditions, their bond remained strong, and Josefina stayed focused on creating a better future for her children.
That opportunity came through Habitat for Humanity. Encouraged by her sister, Josefina attended an information meeting and took a step she hadn’t planned. From there, she and her daughters committed fully, completing their sweat equity hours and working toward a home of their own. Their new home offered the space, stability, and relief they had been longing for. For Josefina, it was more than a house. It was the chance to breathe, to plan for the future, and to provide her family with the security she had been longing for.
