Kylee Vogel

A homeowner since 2022, Kylee Vogel embraced Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program with a longing to build a safe and stable home for her children.

A mother of four, she had already dedicated much of her life to caring for others. In her twenties, she became a foster parent after learning of the need through a family friend. What began as a willingness to help quickly became a calling. Over time, Kylee fostered more than 50 children, adopted three, and was in the process of adopting another, all while working and raising her growing family.

At the time, Kylee and her children were living in a three-bedroom apartment that did not provide the sense of safety she wanted for them. She longed to give her children the kind of upbringing she had experienced, one rooted in security, stability, and space to simply be kids. Supported by her close-knit family, especially her mom and sister, Kylee balanced her role as a parent with her work as a special education paraprofessional. She had already taken steps to build a better future, earning her associate’s degree in early childhood education and continuing to invest in her family’s well-being.

When she was accepted into Habitat’s program in 2021, Kylee moved forward with determination. Using her summer break, she quickly began completing her sweat equity hours, contributing to a Women Build project and reaching a major milestone in just two months. Along the way, she gained new skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the process. The required financial and homeownership classes gave her the tools she wished she had learned earlier, and the experience reinforced her belief that a better future was possible. For Kylee, homeownership was more than a milestone. It was the beginning of a safer, stronger foundation for her family.
