Homer Subdivision
In Partnership With Lippert

This neighborhood is made possible through a meaningful partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County and Lippert. Together, we are bringing a 15-home development to life on Homer Avenue—building not just houses, but opportunities. With Lippert’s support, more families will have the chance to experience the security and hope that come with a place to call home.

Kristin Alwell Family

Kristin Alwell is raising two young children with special needs in a neighborhood where safety is a daily concern. Living in public housing, she has faced frightening experiences—including armed intruders entering her home—making it impossible for her children to play outside or feel secure. Despite working hard to provide for her family, stability has always felt just out of reach.

Through Habitat’s partnership with Lippert, Kristin is building more than a home—she’s building peace of mind. “Working with Jay is fun—he makes it easy,” she shared, reflecting on her growing confidence during construction. Her new home will give her children a safe place to grow and thrive, while giving Kristin the foundation to dream bigger for their future.

Holly Dercach Family

Holly Dercach and her son have spent years navigating unreliable living conditions, including ongoing water and air conditioning issues that have never been resolved. Even as a steady worker, Holly has struggled to find a place where she can feel secure and settled.

Now, through Habitat and Lippert’s partnership, Holly is preparing to own her very first home. “I was in shock—then excited,” she said of her acceptance. Her new home will offer comfort, reliability, and the opportunity to build lasting family traditions—something she’s been working toward for years.

Jasmine Bush Family

For most of her life, Jasmine Bush has moved from place to place, never having a home to truly call her own. As a young mother, she knew she wanted something different for her daughter—a life rooted in consistency and opportunity.

With the support of Habitat and Lippert, Jasmine is breaking generational cycles. “I’m going to beat the odds,” she said. Her new home will not only provide security for her daughter but also open doors for Jasmine to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, building a future filled with possibility.

Jessica & Quinton Thompson Family

The Thompson family has outgrown their small apartment, where crowded living conditions and neighborhood crime have made daily life stressful. With five people sharing limited space, even basic comfort and safety have been difficult to maintain.

Through determination—and a second application—they are now on the path to homeownership. “We never really thought we’d become homeowners,” they shared. Their new home will give their children room to play, a safer environment, and a sense of belonging they’ve long hoped for.

LaShombrie Davis Family

LaShombrie Davis and her young daughter currently share a single bed in a one-bedroom apartment affected by mold and slow repairs. Rather than invest in a temporary situation, she has focused on building toward something better.

With Habitat and Lippert’s support, that better future is becoming reality. Her new home will provide a healthy environment, space for her daughter, and the chance to create meaningful family traditions. For LaShombrie, it’s a fresh start—and a long-awaited dream fulfilled.

Daeliel Cooper Family

Daeliel Cooper and her son currently live in an apartment where safety concerns, mold, and unresolved maintenance issues are part of daily life. As her son has grown older, even he has begun to express fear about their environment.

Being accepted into the Habitat program affirmed her hope for something better. Her new home will provide safety, privacy, and stability—giving her son a place to simply be a kid, and giving Daeliel the confidence to plan for a future she once thought was out of reach.

Through Habitat and Lippert’s partnership, Ashley is creating a lasting foundation for her family. “I didn’t think I would qualify,” she shared. Her new home will bring security, independence, and the simple joy of watching her children play outside in a place they can finally call their own.

Lisa Conley Family

After leaving a volatile relationship, Lisa Conley made the courageous decision to create a safer life for her two sons. For a time, they lived with friends in an overcrowded home before moving into a small two-bedroom apartment where space is limited and Lisa shares a room with her youngest. Despite working steadily in education, finding a place where her family could truly settle has remained a challenge.

Through Habitat for Humanity’s partnership with Lippert, Lisa is building a future filled with hope and possibility. “I’ll worry less,” she shared, reflecting on what homeownership means for her family. When she received the call, she and her son were in tears. “It felt like winning the lottery… like I finally made it.” Her new home will offer not just space, but peace of mind—a place to gather, grow, and be part of a supportive community she describes as “having a village.”
